Office lighting

Office lighting that stays comfortable all day.

Calm light without glare, enough lux on the desk and controls that respond to daylight and presence. We design office lighting according to EN 12464-1 and supply and install the complete system.

01

Comfort for screen work

Luminaires with a UGR below 19 and good light distribution prevent glare and headaches.

02

Lower energy costs

LED with presence detection and daylight control often saves 50 to 70 percent compared with fluorescent lighting in practice.

Why it matters

Light has a direct effect on your people.

Too little light makes people tired, too much or badly aimed light causes glare. Good office lighting gives enough light on the desk, a calm image on the screen and a pleasant brightness throughout the room.

Controls make it even better: lights dim when there is enough daylight and switch off in empty rooms. That saves energy and extends the lifetime.

  • EN 12464-1 as the starting point
  • Colour temperature suited to the function, often 3000 to 4000 K
  • DALI-2 or Casambi with sensors and scenes

Lighting control

Controls that pay for themselves.

01

Presence detection

Lights are only on where people are. In corridors, toilets and meeting rooms, this is often the quickest saving.

02

Daylight control

Luminaires along the facade dim automatically when enough daylight comes in. The workspace stays at the right level.

03

DALI-2

An open standard: every luminaire can be controlled and monitored individually. Useful if the layout changes later on.

04

Casambi

Wireless control via Bluetooth. Ideal for renovations, as no extra control cabling is needed.

05

Meeting scenes

Presenting, discussing or video calling: one button sets the right light, with no reflections on the screen.

06

Human centric lighting

Colour temperature and light intensity follow the course of the day. Fresher light in the morning, warmer light towards the end of the afternoon.

Regulations and returns

What you deal with as an office user.

Energy saving obligation. In the Netherlands, if your organisation uses 50,000 kWh of electricity or 25,000 m³ of natural gas (equivalent) or more per year per site, you must take measures that pay for themselves within five years. For offices, LED lighting and lighting control are on the Recognised Measures List (Erkende Maatregelenlijst).

Energy label C. Since 1 January 2023, offices in the Netherlands larger than 100 m² must have at least energy label C. Efficient lighting counts towards the building's energy performance. How much it contributes varies by building; an energy consultant can confirm this.

Tax benefit. Energy-efficient lighting often qualifies for the Dutch Energy Investment Allowance (EIA). In our quotation we indicate which components are on the Energy List.

Complete luminaires instead of loose tubes. Converting fluorescent fittings to LED tubes seems cheap, but the light distribution and glare stay the same and CE responsibility shifts to whoever does the conversion. That is why we usually recommend a new luminaire that fits the existing ceiling.

Flicker-free. We choose drivers that are flicker-free, even when dimmed. This prevents tired eyes and distracting stripes in video calls.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is your question not listed? Call or email us, we respond within one working day.

Ask your question
Which office lighting is best for screen work?
Luminaires with a UGR below 19 and good light distribution, such as microprismatic panels, linear lights or direct/indirect pendants. Which one fits best depends on the room and the ceiling.
How many lux does an office workstation need?
EN 12464-1 requires 500 lux on the task area for writing, reading and screen work. Around the workstation it may be slightly lower.
How much do I save with LED office lighting?
Compared with fluorescent lighting, savings of 50 to 70 percent are common, especially with presence detection and daylight control. In the QuickScan we calculate it for your situation.
Can the existing ceilings stay?
Usually, yes. For suspended ceilings there are 60x60 panels and recessed luminaires that fit directly.
Is LED lighting mandatory for my office?
Not literally, but if your site falls under the Dutch energy saving obligation (from 50,000 kWh of electricity or 25,000 m³ of natural gas per year), you must take measures that pay for themselves within five years. For offices, LED lighting and lighting control are on the Recognised Measures List (Erkende Maatregelenlijst).
Can I replace my fluorescent tubes with LED tubes?
You can, but we usually advise against it. The light distribution and glare stay the same, and responsibility for the luminaire shifts to whoever converts it. A new luminaire with good optics gives better light and often fits straight into the existing ceiling.
What is DALI-2 and do I need it?
DALI-2 is an open standard for lighting control. Every luminaire can be switched, dimmed and monitored individually. It is a good choice for larger offices or spaces that change often. For smaller spaces, a sensor per luminaire or a wireless system such as Casambi is often enough.
