Store and retail lighting

Store lighting that sells.

Light determines how customers see your store and your products. We combine general light, accents and the right colour rendering into a lighting plan that suits your retail concept and saves energy.

01

Products that stand out

Accent light with high colour rendering (CRI 90 or higher) shows colours and materials as they really are.

02

Customer routing and experience

Contrast between general light and accents guides customers through the store.

03

Lower consumption

Efficient spots and control per zone or schedule reduce energy costs.

Lighting design

The silent salesperson in your store.

A good store has layers of light: a base for orientation, accents on products and atmosphere in the corners. Colour rendering matters too. Fresh produce must look fresh, textiles must show their true colour.

We create a lighting plan per zone: entrance, aisles, displays, fitting rooms and checkout. With track you can easily move spots later when the layout changes.

  • High colour rendering where it counts
  • Flexible with 48V or 3-phase track systems
  • Scenes for day, evening and promotions

Accent factors are design guidelines, not a requirement of the standard. We tailor them to your retail concept.

Zones

Every zone in the shop has its own job.

01

Shop window

A higher light level and focused spotlights catch the eye of passers-by. With a timer, the window display is only lit when it makes sense.

02

Entrance

A clear transition from outside to inside. Visitors step in more readily when the shop looks open and bright.

03

Walkways

Even base lighting for orientation, just slightly lower than at the displays. That way the accents draw the attention.

04

Walls and shelves

Vertical light on walls and shelves makes the range visible, even at the back of the shop.

05

Fitting rooms

Soft, even light from the front with high colour rendering. No harsh shadows and true colours for the clothing.

06

Checkout

Enough light for paying, without glare on screens and card terminals.

Technical

What we pay attention to in retail lighting.

Colour rendering. For fashion, interiors and fresh produce we work with CRI 90 or higher. We also look at the R9 value, which determines how reds and pinks come across. You see it straight away in meat, fruit, textiles and skin tones.

Beam and shielding. Narrow beams make products stand out, wide beams fill walls. With honeycomb louvres and deeply recessed light sources, we prevent customers from looking into the spotlights.

Product protection. LED emits virtually no UV and little heat in the light beam. That is good for textiles, paper and food. For fresh food departments there are spectra that show meat, bread or vegetables at their best.

Staying flexible. With 3-phase track or 48V track, you can move spotlights yourself when the layout changes. We design the tracks so that a new arrangement can also be lit well.

Control. Scenes for opening hours, late opening and cleaning, plus a timer for window displays and signage. So no more light is on outside opening hours than necessary.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is your question not listed? Call or email us, we respond within one working day.

Ask your question
Which colour temperature is best for a store?
That depends on the products and the concept. Fashion and interiors often look good at 3000 K, electronics and supermarkets at 3500 to 4000 K. For fresh produce there are special spectra.
What is the difference between 48V track and 3-phase track?
A 3-phase track on 230V is universal and robust, with three switching circuits. 48V track is slimmer and magnetic, ideal for a clean design. We advise what suits your store.
Can I keep my existing track?
Often, yes. Many LED spots fit on existing 3-phase track. We check the type of track in the QuickScan.
How quickly does LED retail lighting pay for itself?
Because of the long operating hours, the payback period is often short. We calculate it for you based on your opening hours and current consumption.
What colour rendering do I need in a shop?
For fashion, interiors, cosmetics and fresh produce we recommend CRI 90 or higher, with attention to the R9 value. For general walkways and stockrooms, CRI 80 is usually sufficient.
Can the shop window lighting switch automatically?
Yes. With a timer or astronomical clock, the window display switches on and off at set times or based on sunset. You can adjust this yourself via an app.
Do products discolour under LED lighting?
LED emits virtually no UV and gives off little heat in the light beam. The risk of discolouring and drying out is therefore much lower than with halogen. For sensitive products we choose a suitable spectrum and light level.
